Shazam hit his goal of 1100 paragon by the end of his week! He has the drive to set his personal record this season. Already 600 greater rifts this season alone! He rolled a Monk and is now pushing with that toon as well.
Deadgreed rolled a Crusader but quickly moved back to his Witch Doctor after hearing talk in the discord about them. He didn’t last long in his solo season. As the title of this episode suggests, Greed gave up on playing solo and is now playing with a group once more. Find him in the Shattered Soulstone discord server to play with him in game!
In this episode, Greed questions whether or not there is an extra stash tab this season. If you know anything about this, send us your thoughts via email or on the discord server. After being requested by listeners, the first build breakdown makes its debut in an episode in a long long while. This breakdown is on the Witch Doctor LON Carnevil build.

* We received a single, solitary email from listener Aldirik! We love to hear stories of triumph or tragedy from our listeners, so send yours to Show@ShatteredSoulstone.com!
We posed the question on Twitter asking what you have planed for season 2. Be sure to follow our show account, @ShatteredStone, on Twitter for future Questions of the Show.
* Season One is now officially in our rear-view mirrors and with season two right around the corner we wrap up our experiences in the very first season for Diablo III. Did you accomplish everything you had set out to do? We also share our plans, once again, for season two.
* As a preclude of what to expect in season two when it starts community manager Nevalistis will be wrangling together Wyatt Cheng, Travis Day, and Don Vu for another Tavern Talk on Tuesday, February 10th at 11:00am PST. They are likely to do a quick post-mortem on the first season and give insight on what they hope to accomplish with seasons going forward.
* Rumors spreading like wildfire is nothing new for the Diablo franchise and Blizzard Entertainment in general, but this most recent rumor gained a lot of traction and momentum on the Internets. Fact? Fiction? We give our opinions on the matter as well as our frustrations with reporting without credible sources. Blizzpro also posted an article where they debunked much of what spread from the blog post claiming to have insider information.
* It is with heavy hearts that we regret to inform you that we did not produce an Official Forum Thread Masterpiece theater (again) for this episode. Not to pull a guilt trip, but YOU have the power to not let this happen again! Your participation can ensure that this fun segment makes an appearance every show. Send your Official Forum Thread Masterpiece Theater audio segments (or humorous forum threads) to Show@ShatteredSoulstone.com.

* Want to know more about our very own Breja? Recently Dred and JCMonkey sat down and interviewed Breja on Scythe and Shield #17. That makes 3 of our 4 hosts that have been interviewed, we anticipate that Jen will make an appearance on their show in the near future ^^.
* Are you going to be rolling a wizard in season two? Our beloved host and #Wizard4Life Nevik is despite some anxiety over high level play demonstrated in a pair of videos created by wizard extraordinaire Jaetch. Be sure to check out how his Dual Hydras and Firebird Wizard videos fair in Greater Rift 45.
* Looking for a new build to try out in season two? Be sure to check out community manager Nevalisitis’ on-going series Play Your Way for ideas. We mentioned Prflys’ Pyrolysis wizard build and Alexuss’ Rocket Druid demon hunter build in this episode.

In this episode, we are once again not at full strength as Breja needed to tend to an urgent matter with his mom. Make sure you send your positive energies in the direction of the Boston’sh area. Undeterred we get down to business by discussing what we’ve been up to in-game: Lanntonio has been playing his hand at being a virtual card shark, Jen dealt with some invincible worms, and Nevik decided to see what all the fuss was about with the crusader.

* Have you been keeping your finger on the pulse of the Reaper of Souls beta? If not you may have missed all of the drama regarding (legendary) drop rates. Fortunately for us all Blizzard deployed a hotfix last week to Jay WilsonDOUBLE the legendary drop rates! Have an opinion on what has been going on with the beta? Shoot an email off to Show@ShatteredSoulstone.com and share your thoughts!
* It has been quite some time since our last contest and we’re pleased to announce our 100 Word Story Contest! Send your 100 word story to Show@ShatteredSoulstone.com with “100 Word Story Contest” in the subject line by 11:59pm PST onFebruary 21st to be considered for the 100 Word Story Contest. How many more times can we fit “100 Word Story” in to this paragraph?
* Prompted by listener @Hawgeye_CTR we started thinking about the possibilities of a Blizzcon 2014. We know Mr. Blizzard himself, Mike Morhaime, has stated that we will likely see a Blizzcon this year, but what say you? Do you think Blizzard will have their hands too full to organize a Blizzcon this year? Or if there is a Blizzcon this year, will you be making plans to attend?
* Blizzard’s Design-A-Legendary project is nearing the end with the results of the community chosen power being announced. Now we just need to decide on the name of the thing. What did you vote for? (Or did you even vote?) Are you even happy with what the community has chosen? Let us know!
* If you missed your episodical dose of OFTMPT last episode we come to you with an exceptionally long segment that strays from our tongue-in-cheek norm. Prepare yourselves for a long haul, this episode’s OFTMPT weighs in over thirty-five minutes long. Might we suggest a glass of red, red wine? As always we are looking for your participation with this fun segment, send your Official Forum Thread Masterpiece Theater audio segments (or humorous forum threads) to Show@ShatteredSoulstone.com.
* Throughout the show (and OFTMPT) there were a few references to a forum post made by Blizzard forum MVP Drothvader about his feelings and concerns that ended up sparking up a lot of discussion about the state of the beta; be sure to check out the post that started it all, A Little Heart to Heart About RoS.
* Guess what folks, there’s a new Diablo III podcast for us all to enjoy. Holy Hermit and crew launched their new endeavor with the first episode of D3 Podcast! (Hopefully Holy Hermit will come up with a catchier name ^^;)
* Inspired by the heated discussion on legendary drop rates our good friend Sibcoe over at Red Team Gaming shared his thoughts on the subject with a quick video titled, Finding Loot Should Be Fun. We couldn’t agree more.
* Getting sick of Spin-to-Win Barbs? Waldemar highlights some of the nuances of a Spear/Boulder barb that you put together in Reaper of Souls.
* If charging through enemies is more your cup of tea, then you may want to check out MannerCookie’s “HeisenBarb” which makes liberal use of the barbarian’s Furious Charge. Note: This build’s effectiveness in higher Torment difficulties hinges on having not only the right gear, but amazing gear to boot. YMMV.Welp. Looks like Mr. MannerCookie decided to set his video about his Heisenbarb to being private. Not sure why … oh well. It was pretty straight-forward, but required 5pc Oxen set to truly work at Torment 6.
* Tatasinke is back with another edition of his Paper.li newspaper, the New Tristram News. Check it out and subscribe!
Song of the Show:
Recently featured as an Artisan Showcase on Blizzard’s official Diablo III site, Savior is the collaboration between musical groups Have No Fear and the Space Bards, both of which performed in Blizzcon 2013’s talent contest. You can hear more from Have No Fear over at Soundcloud and Youtube and find them on Twitter. You can hear more from the Space Bards over at their official website and Youtube as well as find them on Twitter and Facebook.

The music in the background of the Diablo III game is absolutely amazing. It blends so well with the overall feel of the game, yet somehow remains unobtrusive. When you finally stop killing mobs of monsters, there is a moment of calm, and that is when the music sweeps over you.
As much as I love the music of Diablo III, there was something compelling about the idea creating an alternative Playlist, of sorts, for players to enjoy during those annoying times when you can’t play the game. You know, like when you are commuting to or from work, running errands, or waiting for the servers to get back online. The following songs capture the essence of certain aspects of the Diablo III game.
Disclaimer: Some of the videos I have included are disturbing, and a few use swear words. You probably shouldn’t be watching them at work, or if you are a little kid.
Drowning Pool “Bodies”
“Let the bodies hit the floor… Let the bodies hit the floor….”
Slay those zombies, skeletons, and bosses. Let their bodies hit the floor (instead of your character’s), as you work your way through Normal.
Avenged Sevenhold “Nightmare”
“Die (Die!), die again (die!)”….Will that happen to you, or the mobs of monsters around you?
AC/DC “Highway to Hell”
This one is for all the “Runners”, rushing through the levels of the game.
“No stop signs, speed limits…. Nobody’s gonna slow me down”
Symphony X “Inferno”
A guitar fast enough to keep up with the rapid fire of the Demon Hunter’s double crossbows.
“A time will come … When all will see. In the end – it’s just a game”. A super addictive game!
The Monk has incredible speed mixed with a sense of structure and rhythm.
The playing style fits nicely with “Monk Chant” by a band called The Monks!
How to Destroy Angels – “BBB”
As much as I love the ability to duel wield crossbows, we all know that with the Demon Hunter wouldn’t be the same without those big, black, stiletto boots.
“Listen to the sound … of my Big Black Boots!”
“Destroyer” – Twisted Sister
No class is better at destroying enemies, (or barrels), than the Barbarian!
“And he cleaved the air with his fiery stare rend all those there…. Destroyer, destroyer…”
“Every Little Thing She Does is Magic” – The Police
Clayton Vaught referenced this song when he was asked which class he would play first when Diablo III was released. I cannot think of a better song to represent the Sorceress, … I mean Wizard…. class.
“Voodoo” – Godsmack
The Witch Doctor uses zombie dogs, and can raise a zombie warrior, to fight enemies for him. That’s gotta be some powerful voodoo!
“Demons dreamin… breath in… breath in”… and blow some poison darts at the monsters ahead of you!
I like how the overall theme of this video fits nicely into the Diablo III “universe”.
This month I am taking part in a project called National 10-Haiku-Per-Day Month. This is the second year that it has existed.
In short, this is a collaborative haiku project where participants write ten haiku every day in the month of March. Some of those haiku get submitted to the project, and all of them get turned into a book sometime after the month is over. All of the money from sales of the book go to a charity called Room to Read.
I realize that not everyone is familiar with this form of poetry, so I will explain. A haiku is a poem that consists of three lines. The first line must have ten syllables. The second line must have seven syllables. The third line must have five syllables. It looks as though it would be really simple to write a haiku, but, many find it to be deceptively difficult.
The theme for this year’s National-10-Haiku-Per-Day-Month is “Earth, Air, Fire, Water”. However, since I have been spending a lot of my free time playing the Diablo III beta, some of the haiku that I have been writing this month are influenced by the game. Most of them do not fit nicely into the theme for the project, so I have decided to share them here, with all of you who love Diablo III.
Zombies crawl from earth
I shoot them with my crossbow.
Demon Hunters rule!
Server shutting down?
Zombies pop out of the ground.
I am not done yet!
Skeleton army
Crawling out of their grave sites
Coming right for me
Burning to go play
More Diablo 3 beta
Must finish work first
Group game in D3
Caused my computer to freeze
Had to hard restart
The Skeleton King
Returns from his grave and fights
But… not for that long
Turned around to find
Cast of Army of Darkness
Marching down the stairs
That’s all for now. I’ve got half the month of March to go, so there is potential that I will end up writing more Diablo III haiku in the next couple of weeks. If you want to keep up with all the haiku that I am writing for the National-10-Haiku-Per-Day-Month, and more, follow me on Twitter @Queenofhaiku.
