Episode 23 – Murky Buckets

In this episode, our 4th musketeer, Lanntonio the over-achiever, rejoins the cast while suffering with a terrible “Gets to play D3 all-day guilt-free” illness. In typical fashion we begin the show discussing what we’ve been up in-game: Jen roflstomped Azmodan, Breja is puking all over hell (and receiving STERN looks), Lanntonio has abandoned the wizard but that’s okay since Nevik now has TWO level 60 wizards.

In this episode:

* We discover through a developer blog that the next patch in the pipeline is NOT 1.1 and will be 1.0.5 and will contain some changes to how crowd control (CC) works. Listen to hear Nevik’s hunch on when we could potentially expect it to drop.

* Guess what folks, the game is OVER. Alkaizer has already hit paragon level 100. That was quick. Back to the drawing board … errr okay, we’re being silly. Still Alkaizer definitely destroyed all our expectations on when we would see level 100 toppled.

* If you were thinking that Alkaizer used bots and/or exploits this gentleman thinks differently. Check out Moldran’s youtube video where he provides evidence that it was mathematically possible.

Episode 22 – Hot as Fresno

In this episode, Breja rejoins the cast after surviving a HOT, fun-filled vacation in the magical land of California. As usual we begin the show discussing what we’ve been up in-game: Jen is loving Act III, Breja is loving the Puke Doctor changes in 1.0.4 and Nevik has been playing just a wee-bit … err okay, a metric ton.

Quick note: You will notice that the audio quality is a little … skype’sh every now and then. We had a locally recorded track decide that it didn’t want to cooperate so we had to use the master track as recorded through skype. It’s still listenable, but there will be audio imperfections from time-to-time.

Nevik, Breja, and Jen are all very excited about finally being able to play Diablo III! It was good to know that the game didn’t just end after you kill the Skeleton King. How many of you were still expecting to see text pop up on your screen after that kill, letting you know that you beat the Diablo III beta? ;)

Starting with this episode, we are including a new “segment”. Nevik, Breja, and Jen will be sharing what each of them have been up to in the Diablo III game. Don’t worry, we are being very careful not to reveal spoilers in our discussion.

Diablo III Launch Night Audio

Jen, one of the “co-joeys” of the Shattered Soulstone podcast, and Shawn, the amazingly talented editor of the Shattered Soulstone podcast, decided to make an audio recording of their experiences when Diablo III first launched. Like many of you, we were not expecting what followed.

It was frustratingly difficult to attempt, over and over again, to log into the game.

We saw a whole lot of this:

…over and over again…

It was getting ridiculous!

At times, we were certain that we would not be able to get into the game at all on launch night. This was both disappointing and aggravating!

Eventually, though, with enough determination, both of us were lucky enough to be able to actually play Diablo III.

In addition to being frustrated, Jen and Shawn talked about the new errors that popped up, and included a running commentary of what other people on the internet were saying about launch night. Stay a while… and listen… (and laugh).

Nevik, Breja, and Jen somehow managed to make episode 15 appear right around May 15, the day that Diablo III is released. We assure you that this was nothing more than a happy accident. I mean, it’s probably obvious that we aren’t amazingly organized. ;)

We are excited to bring you an interview that we did with Nate Kenyon. His book, Diablo III: The Order will be released on, you guessed it, May 15, 2012. Lots of epic fifteens in this episode! We had a great time talking with Nate, and we think you will really enjoy listening to this interview.
